In the late 1960s I purchased a 1930s Bacon & Day Senorita guitar. It was a beautiful instrument though not the best sounding guitar I had played. That summer I went out to Berkeley, California and traded the guitar to the legendary Jon Lundberg. Jon took the guitar and proceeded to scallop the braces until the guitar had a deep resonance and clear treble. He upgraded the pickguard to a personal design that complimented the dazzling neck inlays
and jewels. John Fahey feel in love with the guitar and played it for several years. He then sold it to Country Joe McDonald. Country Joe eventually sold the guitar to a British collector.
Decades later Tony Klassen of New Era Guitars decided to duplicate the design but based on Jon Lundberg's revisions. I heard about this and called Tony to order one. He initially made three new Senoritas. Each used different woods and frets. One went to Country Joe. The other to Henry Kaiser and the third to lucky me. My Senorita has back and sides of Madagascar rosewood and Adirondack Spruce top. It is built using Hide Glue construction. I was and still am very impressed by the sound, feel, projection and aesthetics. It's a great guitar. - Stefan
